The model is PC-T60PG
Remote often will not turn on TV. Sometimes it does. Once TV is powered on, it will not respond to commands from the remote. I believe the remote is fine, because occasionally, the TV will respond perfectly. Obviously the problem is intermittent.
Also the HDMI 1 seems to have gone out. This happened before the trouble above, but seemed to been fine when I switched to HDMI2.

liznewkirk you do want to try a new remote. This “because occasionally, the TV will respond perfectly “ is not an indication that it does work.
Once you try a new remote but should find that it still gives you issues, in combination of the HDMI 1 seems to have gone out “ I would check the main board. Since you did not tell us what exact model your TV is, we can not go further indepth with what to check etc.

Hi! Thank you. The model is PC-T60PG, it's a 60" screen plasma.
Just FYI I have been using 2 remotes-- the original and a universal (harmony) and it acts the same way with both of them. Unless you advise otherwise, I will look into how to get a new remote as a first step

I have the same exact problem with my Panasonic plasma. I have bought new batteries and new remotes. I will NEVER EVER buy this brand tv again. I spent near $1000 for a tv that I can't watch movies on because I need the remote for the HDMI
In conclusion with all the problems we are trying to solve with this viera product (of any type) I have to say its just one helluva $@$* product. I’ll never buy another Panasonic product again.
edit: I GOT IT BACK ON!!! EFFING REMOTE IS BACK ALL UP AND RUNNING TOO!!! WOOHOO !&&* YEAH!!!
Right so I‘ve had the same issue as above. Similar TV as well. No idea about product number etc… It never turns on so I tend to unplug it and when I plug it back on I press the power button on the remote at the same time as I plug it back on… and that seems to squeeze another day of life back into the *!&*^#% thing. Amazing. Then the remote dont respond and after about a minute it shuts down with the green light flashing and I can see the light responding to the remote but not activating anything. So what I’ve done is press the power button on the tv for 60 seconds after it goes into shut down mode ( thats after I unplugged it and back on again) and then using the power button to turn it on but holding it down for another 60seconds. Literally 50-60 seconds. And as I hold the power button down the tv is already back on but I still have this message about new channels found. And when I finish with the 60 seconds I let the button go and use the remote and…. TADAAAA. The &&^&^$^ thing works again.
