it wont let me type

hello! my new phone that already came broken from my mom, who had dropped it and it got a slight big crack. it keeps glitching and crashing. so i was texting my friend and all of a sudden, it had stopped working for the bottom half. i cannot type, or even unlock my phone which is a huge problem. my original phone, the samsung j7 v had been slammed from anger and then it told me that my sim card was out, even though it wasnt. nothing was working. how do i start typing again? i need to be able to text by tomorrow!
