Unable to install any Mac Os on my new Samsung 970 evo SSD

Hello,

I have been trying to solve my problem for 3 days now and I m a little worried.

I cannot install my Mac OS on my new internal ssd Samsung 970 EVO NVMe with PCIe adapter.

The Os installation ( High Sierra or Mojave or Sierra) starts and stops after few minutes with an error message : 'Mac OS could not be installed …. error with a memory module PPM002’ . I know the SSD is working well and is recognized perfectly on my laptop when I use an external boot drive and the error message code after checking is relative to memory.

My EFI version is MPB.121.0177.B00

SMC : 2.28f7

Macbook Retina 13’ model : Macbookpro12,1 (early 2015)

I have been resetting both btw but it doesn’t changed anything.

I have got the same problem trying with an OWC Aura ssd drive so I m sure it s not the samsung SSD, and I do not have anymore my original Apple SSD.

I have never installed High Sierra or Mojave before as I was unable with an OWC ssd, but for the EFI I suppose that it has been updated since I have installed Mojave on my external boot drive.

So, anyone with an idea?

The RAM issues and can't fix it. The RAM on motherboard. You can run HWT (Turn on and hold "D"), double check it.

Yes, You are trying to install hardware not made for Macintosh. Apple doesn’t like that. You will need to use an Apple original. and OWC or Transcend “made for Mac” stick. Apple is very greedy and will stop at little to prevent you from doing anything with your Apple product with your paying up to them.

This is not actually true in this case. But I know where you're coming from.

It is actually just that any new NVME SSD needs to have one of the later Mac OS (macOS 10.14 Mojave or OS 10.15 Catalina at this time) to enable it to have a driver capable of "seeing" (detecting) the SSD and in addition, the SSD must also be formatted with a GPT partition format and have 1 partition already created.

Also in my experience, you can have physical problems with the M.2 to Apple SSD slot adapters.

High Sierra needs to be installed on your machine (not an external drive) prior to using the adapter for it to recognize third party NVMe drives. Once you’ve done this you should have no problems.

IS there any option if may harddrive crashed and I never had high sierra installed?

If the MBP has no hard drive at all currently and only the small internal one, how do you install High Sierra?

Also, you have to initialize the SSD with a GPT format and 1 partition using either an NVME USB adapter in Mac or in an M.2 slot on Linux or Windows. And note some of those adapters for apple SSD to M.2 are thicker than others and if in Mac Book Air (MBA) can be a problem. Look for the thinner one if you have an MBA.
