what worked for me in the past, is, to press and hold on the the power button and the home button at the same time, for at least 15 seconds, maybe more. then the apple logo shows up and the iPod should boot

Unfortunately, it did not work. Have purchased another iPod Nano 7th Gen online. Can't afford to lose all the music I have purchased over the years. Thanks anyway. Stan

Try to plug it into a computer and then save what you want/Copy. Take it to a store if you want to get some professional help. Because i would think apple would do a better job than i could.
