I purchased replacement battery kit and I am having difficulty removing the digitizer panel. The enclosed tools do not seem to be strong enough, it seems like the panel is glued. is that possible? and what can I do if that's the case?

Hey, this is a bit late, but if you take a look at step 6 from the tear down guide:
iPod Touch 2nd Generation Teardown
You can see that there a small metal "latches" by every screw. Sometimes these bend inward making it very difficult to remove the screen.
Using a spugder try to push this away from the screen and towards the edge of the iPod as if you where try to expand the casing, then try to lift up the screen.
I always start near the volume rocker.
