Why is only Apple software working after water damage?

Hi!

So two weeks ago I (like many others) had the wonderful experience of water damaging my MacBook Air. I spillt some water on my charger while it was connected to my laptop and the outlet, effectively short-circuiting it (I assume). I disconnected everything as soon as I could and turned my computer upside down. I took it to an Apple Store the day after, and they could remove the battery and also some droplets of water which had gotten into where the battery was. They turned it on and it’s worked fine(ish) since.

Basically, my laptop will turn off if left idle for more than 4min (which I can work around) but most puzzling is the fact that all software that isn’t Apple’s own work super slow. At first I thought the entire computer was lagging but pretty soon I noticed that Safari works fine and so does Quicktime, but neither Google Chrome or Firefox, Spotify or Word. In short, everything that isn’t an Apple software product is extremely slow.

Is there anything I can do? Is this something anyone recognizes? I’m really sorry if this is something someone already has answered but I couldn’t find any mention of it.
