So on my iPod, the lock button and the volume down button are sunk, and i'll have to push really hard for it to respond.
My question is, will it be possible for me to return it to clickyness when I replace the screen? I decided that since it was already opened, why not?

Yea, I've seen both the "dome" contact on the assembly waste down and the small metal piece on the back of the actual button un-glue, this causes the button to no longer provide adequate feedback.
Once you open it, you'll have a better idea of what I mean, just remove the small metal circle behind the button and re-glue it.
You can also purchase a new volume rocker/sleep button assembly and you should be good as new.
