Why is my battery draining even when I'm charging it

I just got this phone yesterday and when I plugged it in to charge everything seemed normal but when I looked at my percentage and it was lower than what I started with. I figured oh maybe there is too many apps open so I closed all of them except the one I was using and then closed that right after. But it still continued to drain while charging. I tried turning on lower power mode and turned the brightness all the way down just an extra measure and it is still continuing to have this problem. Why is this happening. Again I just got it yesterday.

Hi,

Try fully charging the battery with the phone turned off and then disconnect the charger and turn the phone on and use normally until the percentage drops to about 75% before trying to charge it again to see what happens?

I tried the above option but it only got worse

Did you buy a used one or a new one? If you buy a used one, the battery can be draining because its old. Try to use a new battery.

Dear ifixit.com: how exactly do you figure that this issue is ‘solved'? Do you think that simply because there is a REPLY to a question that immediately the issue has been solved? Do you even bother assigning someone to check these threads to see if anyone actually indicated a successful solution?

It's INCREDIBLY frustrating as a user on Google, who searches for help or possible solutions to my own software/hardware issues, when dishonest websites like YOURS decide that it's more important to get ‘clicks' than it is to actually accomplish the supposed purpose of the website: helping people crowdsource answers to common issues. To be 100% honest - this !#^&@! me offvto no extent. Why do you think it's okay to waste my time while I'm searching for help, by falsely claiming that you have a “solved" thread with the question that I have. Habits like this make me hope that your site gets shut down, soon…

Hi,

The answer can only be selected as the "Chosen Solution" by the OP of the question and the moderators and admin of ifixit and also if it is "moderated" as such by 5 other users of the website. Users can "moderate" by clicking on options > moderate > Accept as Solution in an Answer

Moderators and the admin do keep a track so that "voting rings" don't happen (users voting each other up to gain reputation points for whatever reason) but all the moderators are volunteers so they're not online at all times and sometimes things get missed or slip through

On this particular question the Chosen Solution also has a score of 3 so 3 other users, not including the OP of the question presumably also found it helpful enough to vote it up.

Every user, including the admin and the moderators only get one vote, be it up or down

You may also have to remember that in electronics not every fault symptom has to have the same cause. There may be multiple reasons why a device fails the way it does. Unfortunately the Chosen Solution presumably didn't work for you.

In this particular instance one assumes that it solved the problem for the OP and also for 3 others (those who bothered to vote for it or even create an account so that they could vote for it). The ifixit admin may be able to tell you how many "views" this particular question has received, I cannot.

If you don't think that it is OK then vote it down. The "score" will reflect this. Some answers to other questions are in the negative as far as the score goes

I didn't design the system but that is how it works.

Moderator.
