Single horizontal strip in the middle is unresponsive but ghost clicks

Ive had my iPad mini 2 now for around 5 years now and about 2 years ago I noticed the middle of my screen went unresponsive to my touches. The best way to describe where it is is if you pull up the google app and have the screen vertical, it’s at the exact location and has an identical width as the google bar. There are no screen fades (white/ black lines) either. It didn’t bother me to badly, you can turn the screen horizontal, click where you want to go, then reorientate the device and go along your way. That was until it rapidly started to ghost click along that line after handling the device for awhile. I.e. you can keep it on a table, watch an entire movie and not have a problem until you pick it up and start to walk around with it in your hand. To stop it you just push sleep, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. I have no idea what the issue could be, I haven’t seen any forums on this specific problem but could really appreciate some solutions, thank you!
