For at least a month now, I have noticed a randomly occurring flicker on my screen of my 2018 MacBook pro
as can be seen in the photos, the glitch appears to be in a grid of dots appearing in a vertical strip across the bottom portion of the screen
it doesn’t seem to matter what i’m doing with the laptop, there isn’t a pattern as to why its occuring
any help is appreciated

This is likely a noise issue within the T-CON board. To double check plug in an external monitor so when you see the issue on the internal you don’t see it on the external.
The best thing you can do here is bring it in to an Apple Store or authorized service center hopefully its covered under warranty. You’ll need a new display assembly which is quite expensive! The T-CON board is directly attached to it.

I have the exact same issue. I've took it to Apple and they replaced the screen. Didn't fix the problem. Took it in again, and they said it wasn't a hardware issue and I should wait for an update to fix the problem. Still have the issue today... Updating to Catalina to see if that fixes the problem.

@Christopher Stuart - Did you check to see if it was present on an external monitor? If you had you would have isolated out if the display was the issue or the main logic board. In your case its clear the issue is within the logic board.
I would return the system to get if fixed under warranty ASAP! This is not a defective software issue.
I use it with an external monitor daily! The issue has never shown up on the external monitor. I've scheduled a call with Apple tomorrow to complain and discuss upgrade and trade in options, since I've had multiple issues with the butterfly keyboard too. This laptop has been a complete nightmare. I just want to upgrade to the 16 inch and hope for no more problems.
