Broke the cable clip for DVD Rom on Mobo. Can I swap Mobo out?

While Cleaning out an old PS2 i scored from the Pawn Shop I managed to damage the ribbon cable clip that hold the larger ribbon cable coming from the DVD drive. I was able to find Motherboards online pretty reasonably priced. Can I just swap in a new one or is it tied to the DVD drive?
