Snapchat has blurry and close up selfie camera quality

I recently purchased a XS Max for $350, and after transferring from my old Sony XZ Premium, I have noticed a huge downgrade in camera quality on the selfie camera. It has much better dynamic range, but the camera seems very blurry and much too smooth when in snapchat. But my biggest issue is how zoomed in it is. On my old phone, I could take a picture from around a foot away and it would crop in my whole shoulders, whilst on this one a photo taken on the front camera will barely show my entire face. All of these issues are only persistent on snapchat. I’m wondering if this will be fixed in a future software update, but it doesn’t seem likely as the XS is no longer the newest iPhone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
