Spotify on an old iPod?

Is there a way of any sort to have access to Spotify on an iPod Nano 3rd gen (A1236)?

I think the major problem would be to have it connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Maybe a possible solution is to make the iPod be a piggyback of a mobile phone where you have Spotify, but idk.

Problem is Spotify won’t let you sync your iPod when you connect it to your pc so there’s no way to download your entire Spotify library to your iPod.

I found there are some programs that claim to be able to do it, but they have two major problems:

1 - you have to select each song and drag it onto the program;

2 - they are quite expensive (30-40$) whereas most iPod mods can be done with less expense.

No. There is no wifi capability or way to install new apps

Sadly, the iPod just doesn’t have the needed ability to stream Spotify as well as have a way to unlock your downloaded library as its limited to a tethered connection. You’ll need to live with $40 solution.

Sure an iPod Touch will work but it will be limited to loaded content and you will need to authenticate via WiFi. You need the cellular connection which the iPhone has for streaming content when on the go. Consider the storage space your library will need Vs streaming.

@nick - I have an iPod Touch which I use when I workout with bluetooth headphones. I only have my workout music and a few podcasts using iTunes.

However, all music from Spotify is streaming content protected by digital rights management so Spotify music is only available within Spotify itself. That’s why you cannot listen to Spotify music from iPod.

Spotify does not support music streaming on iPod Nano, Classic, or Shuffle. I‘ve read a post in the Spotify Community, saying that some old generations of iPod Touch can install the old Spotify app which stopped updating. Not sure whether this method is available for iPod Nano. Apologies that I cannot find that post now.

As I know, Spotify doesn’t support Pod Nano, Classic, or Shuffle. But it is still possible to listen to Spotify music on the old generations of iPod Touch by using a little trick.

And this is how I listen to Spotify songs on my iPod Shuffle. First, install the Spotify Converter on your computer. Then use it to download music from Spotify into the local folder. Last, move the local Spotify tracks to your old iPod Touches. These local Spotify tracks are playable without the Spotify app.
