iPhone 4S will not stay switched off after new battery installed

Original battery not holding charge for more than a few hours from 100% charged.

New compatible battery installed by shop.

Charged to 100%, then iPhone 4S used as normal.

Switching off the phone using power button gets the following behaviour:

  • it restarts after about 6-10 secs;
  • repeated attempts to switch off gets same behaviour.

If you know how to open the phone, try swapping the original battery back in or disconnecting the dock connector. If not, try updating or restoring the phone (restoring deletes ALL data, so be careful!)
