Upper Case Replacement Help

Can the upper case from the A1229 be used on the A1261 model.

The A1229 is the 2006 Macbook Pro 17" 2.4GHz or 2.6GHz and the A1261 is the 2008 Macbook Pro 17" 2.5GHz or 2.66GHz.

Can anybody advise me.

No. Yours is the Santa Rosa model. The part # is 922-8103.

The A1261 is the Penryn 922-8389. They do not appear to be interchangeable.
