Why wont my RCA Voyager II tablet start up?

After holding the power button down to turn it on it shows the screen wih the two dogs on it, Nipper and Chipper. But it stays on that screen no matter how long i wait and the only way to turn it off is let the battery die. It will still go into recovery mode but i dont want to factory reset it because i have some really important stuff on it and some game saves that ive been working on for a few years.
