Replacement fan is not working

Last night I replaced my Switch’s fan with one received from iFixIt. After closing the system and powering it up I thought it sounded a little too quiet. I gave it a few minutes and the fan never seemed to spin up. I took the back cover off, not the plating, so I could see the fan while the Switch was powered on. It wasn’t spinning at all. I took everything apart and put the old, extremely loud fan back in and that fan spun up as it should, albeit quite loudly. I tried re-seating the cable for the replacement fan and that did not help. Did I simply receive a defective fan or is there something else I should check or be concerned about?
