Should I replace with SSD or NVMe SSD?

hi, I have the late 2014 Mac Mini with Fusion drive. Due to my own careless mistake, I have accidentally formatted my drive before backing up my photo library. So I’m thinking of replacing the Fusion drive with either SSD or NVMe SSD, and try to recover my data in original Fusion drive. Should I go for SSD or NVMe SSD?
