It is always the calipers.

Just disconnect the ABS plug from the driver's side of the master cylinder to test if they let ck up.

It's usually only $100 to buy them online.

Sounds like the dump valves are not opening to allow brake fluid to release the brakes. Controlled by the ABS module, try disconnecting the ABS module and test the system w/o it being connected. The vehicle should still have normal brake functions, start off just forward and back to be sure that the brakes are working to stop you. Gradually increase speed and test brakes. If all seems to operate normal it seems that the brake module and or ABS pump are to blame. Hope this helps.

Where would the fuse for the ABS be located so I can test this on my car?

I had a Cadillac come in on a vacation trip. The car stopped coming off of the freeway but the brakes wouldn't release. It turned out that the customer had taken the car in to be serviced before the trip and the person who changed the fluids and top them up put power steering fluid into the master cylinder with seal swell and it damaged the entire brake system. We had to replace the master cylinder, propositioning valve, calipers, wheel cylinders and brake lines. Everything with rubber in it. That could be a possibility. Drain the fluid and make sure it's not contaminated. Also check the brake lines. Brake lines can collapse on the inside and will let pressure through but won't let the small amount of pressure to return. It could also be a problem with the abs system applying the brakes.

It's the calipers always.

Test the locking up by disconnecting the ABS plug from the master cylinder.

It's typically rusted calipers and pins.

It’s not the calipers because I’ve already replaced them and the brake lines to them. It’s definitely something else besides the calipers!!

Going through this on an 08, new calipers, rotors pads, hoses, and master cylinder, from the wheel bearing assembly both sides... drives great for 4 Mile's. Then feels like you have the brakes on while driving...I pulled the abs fuse, which disabled, abs, traction control and all wheel drive, cured the issue. Drives fine.....I used launch scan tool to bleed system post master cylinder install, pump is functioning, so is it the ABS module creating this? Or is it a communication issue with the bcm? No light , no codes in car, bled per launch tool 5 times, no problem there, ....I just don't have the answer if it a bad abs module, or computer issue....any help or imput is greatly appreciated. Thank you ...

That is exactly what I have going on. Mine is a 08 also. new calipers, rotors, pads of course also. Mine is more random than yours but has completely locked up on me twice where I could not drive. Both times it locked up on me, the abs/Stabil track lights came on. I took out the fuses and unhooked from the battery, after a few mins rehooked up and all was fine. I am with you, it's either a bad abs module or PCM. If you find out, it would be great to know. thanks, Kevman

Did you ever figure out what the issue was?
