Home button not working. New 3ds xl

i was taking apart my new 3ds xl (the outer casing to paint it), About an hour after the case being off and the ds being turn off and on the home button stopped working. I opened the 3ds completely to see of any wires were loose but the home button wiring was fine. Does anyone know of any troubleshooting i can do to fix this problem.
