I can't find a specific HDD flex cable for my laptop

Hello.

Last year I purchased a Gigabyte Aorus 15 x9 laptop with the Intel i7-8750H and the Nvidia RTX 2070. I noticed there are a few different models of this laptop and mine was the slightly cheaper one as it came without the internal SATA hard drive, just the 512GB m.2 system drive. I want to buy a 2tb 2.5" SATA barracuda drive like the more expensive model but I need a specific flex cable to connect the drive. After disassembling the back panel, I've noticed the space where the drive will fit but I don't have the flex cable. I've searched all over the internet for one specific to my Aorus but no luck. Could you possibly help me out and source me the right flex cable? I have a picture of somebody else's Aorus 15 x9 with the cable and drive (the cable I need is circled in red). Please find this picture attached.

Would be much appreciated if you could send me the cable or point me to somewhere I can get one as i'm clutching at straws at this point.

Thanks

Adam

Adam Bellamy ... if you list the hdd you purchased, we may be able to point you in the right direction.

Is there such a cable but in reverse male on the SATA part and female on the flex part?

Thanks for the reply @jostewcrew . I have actually sorted this yesterday. For anyone else in the UK struggling to find this specific cable (or any specific part for Gigabyte laptops), Gigabyte support advised me to contact a company called mendit. They are the registered UK repair company for Gigabyte. Pop an email to repairs-admin@mendit.com and tell them the part you're looking for. They got straight back to me saying other people have asked for this particular flex cable and it's only available from mendit. They will ask you for proof of purchase, serial number of your laptop to make sure they get the right part and your address and contact details. They have ordered the cable in for me and will send it to me free of charge next week. Thanks for the help anyway :)

Cheers!

Adam.

youre looking for something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Drive-Cable-Conne...

the key here is to search for 2.5 inch and match the pins on the new hdd to the connector being purchased. (i.e 40pin 2.5 or 60 pin 2.5 etc.) the “for model” doesnt really matter as long as the specs match.

I am using a hp pavilion x360 that came with a m2 hdd and no ssd. I found the connector cable and ssd caddy at aliexpress.com counted the number of pins on the mobo and made sure the flex cable has the right length and pins required.it was cheap and lasted with no problems till now.

@joeyferns Hello. Could you possibly elaborate on "it lasted with no problems until now?" what seems to be the issue? Does the drive not show up in BIOS?

Regards

Adam

I did not encounter any problems with the flex cables purchased. In terms of quality and it handled high temperatures well.the drive is recognised in BIOS.however a new SSD hard disk has to be Partitioned & formatted to NTFS file using disk manager.
