Keyboard not working when ribbon is bent

I replaced my keyboard and battery (parts from ifixit).

Tested along the way and everything was looking good. But when finally finished it the keyboard doesn’t work.

The step where it starts to fail is when I put the trackpad cover back on, even before I screw it down. Maybe it doesn’t like being bent down? Everytime I remove the trackpad cover to test it works.

Other thing to note is the zip connector for my keyboard is broken (the little plastic lock). But like I said it works when the ribbon isn’t pushed down by the trackpad cover. And the ribbon looks fully in, it’s really hard to get out…
