Dell U2913WMT - No power, no response

I have a Dell Monitor, U2913WMT that will not power on. While plugged in, nothing happens. plugging in USBs or display cables also gives no response. No light at the power button, no display, totally unresponsive.

I have tried replacing the power board that is said to work, without success. While measuring voltages on both the power board and the mainboard, I can only read AC voltage, I cannot read any DC volts anywhere on the board (multimeter works).

Measuring voltages between the new power board and the old power board, I have only found a difference of about 0.3v AC on the connector pins.

Without connecting to the mainboard, the power board connector pins read about 7v AC each (7.3v) on the new board. While connected, the pins read about 5.7v AC. I am able to read AC voltages on each of the USB and display ports, of also about 5.7v AC. Obviously, the volts here should be DC. Plugging in a USB flash drive with a power indicator seems to “shut off” the mainboard, bringing both DC and AC down to about 0v.

I have no clue what to do next, other than replacing the mainboard. Does anybody have any insights? Should I return the replacement power board I got and order a mainboard?

Hi Carson Dang

you mentioned that when you disconnected the mainboard, you are able to get dc voltages. when you add the mainboard, it shut off.

Likely there is short in the mainboard, which you have to check further, e.g. transistor / IC shorted, etc
