When I turn on my camera it shows an error message that reads “Mode dial is not in the proper position”. None of the functions or buttons work, even after removing the batteries and turning it off and then on again.

It is not recognizing the position of the mode dial, maybe something is loose inside. Has it gotten wet?

It has not gotten wet but I dropped it from about 4 feet and it hit the ground. Their is no visible damage but it might just be internal damage
well, time to open it then, if you are lucky you might need to just resit the ribbon connectors.
