Face ID tampering detection question

So I work at a phone repair shop. A customer brought in an 11 with water damage and it was boot-looping. Unplugged the face id/earpiece flex cable and came on fine. I see Ear Speaker with Sensor Flex Cable parts online that are supposedly OEM.

Now I’ve seen videos of people replacing the actual sensor, via micro soldering, to get the face ID working, but unfortunately we don’t do that here.

So if I just replace the cable so that at least the earpiece works, but NOT transfer the sensor(customer Isn’t concerned about the Face-ID anyway) I’ve read about it possibly tripping the “tampering detection”

Will that cause you to not be able to use the phone AT ALL, or just the Face-ID function?

Thanks if you can help

Update (10/11/2020)

customer phone is bootlooping with it plugged in(fine without)

planning on trying to replace the whole flex cable earpiece include

Part for reference: https://www.mobiledefenders.com/mobile-p...

if i trip the whole Face ID “Tampering Detection” and it gets disabled

Will it disable the whole phone or just Face ID features?

I’m a repair shop owner and tech myself and have yet to trigger the tamper detection although I haven’t had to replace the ear speaker. When it comes to liquid damage repair, it’s not very practical as you’d be crazy to try to put a warranty on it. If you are going to be attempting liquid damage repair, you should really have microsoldering equipment. If liquid is stuck between the layers then it’s a problem waiting to happen and then you’ve got an unhappy customer to deal with. I would recover data and if you guys do sell devices, offer them a replacement.
