Why is my controller not working

Ok so i have seen everyone with the slow orange fade in fade out light. But my controller is blinking orange 3 times everytime i press the home button. I have tried everything i have used m and k to go to bluetooth and try and connect it and it doesn't show up i have restarted the controller and console but nothing seems to work and no one have the same light as me. What do i do?????
