Will this projector work with a Toshiba Satellite S55-C5274 computer?

I got an adapter for the projector to hook to the computer, I tried both a USB and a HDMI adapter but still can’t get the computer screen to show on the projector screen.

Wondering if the projector is just too old.

have you tried checking your computer's settings?

@hootonberg Yes, and both my brothers have tried. Thank you.

This projector looks like it has only a VGA input which will require that you have an adapter that converts the signal from HDMI to VGA. I have used this technique many times for other projectors without fail. You must split the audio from the HDMI if you need to send that elsewhere as well.

I have an adapter that goes from the VGA projector to the HDMI computer (that didn't work). Is there another adapter that converts the signal from HDMI to VGA?

[Audio not necessary]

You need an adapter that specifically converts from HDMI to VGA. I have a couple of these and they work just fine.

@abrsvc Yep - Optomas are super picky :(. My Optoma rebrand (Dell 1210s) is just as bad - it only likes it one way. THANKFULLY my HDCP model has a DVI port so the adaptor situation is nowhere near as bad.

I just use a 3.5mm cable on my 1210s when I need audio personally... if I feel like using it. The mono speaker is hot garbage.

Epson is nowhere near as bad, but they tend to even cost more used because 3LCD isn't as common as DLP, or they have many more lamp hours. I can go either way, so I went with DLP for cost, bearing in mind the DMD totals them out. Then again, so does the 3LCD prisim.

It will work, but a HDMI to VGA adapter is required. In addition, you will not be able to use it for HDCP content like Netflix, but as a daily use projector not having HDCP isn’t the end of the world if you’re aware of the limitations. Not having HDCP just means one less thing to go wrong for content that doesn’t require it :-). I’ve got an HDCP projector for those times, but I usually use the 1210s because it lacks it.

This adapter is what I use on my Dell 1210s - similar problem to yours; no HDMI. From the inside it just looks like another private label Optoma like my Dell 1210s. I could tell by the lamp and control board. These can be quite picky compared to the rebranded Epsons.

I only want to show pictures on the wall with my old projector, but the VGA to HDMI adapter didn't work (neither did the VGA to USB). Woe is me...

@exhausted Added the adapter I got for my Dell 1210s.
