Kindle paperwhite stuck on welcome screen after restart

My kindle froze while I’m reading (this is a little after synching a lot of books), so I restarted the device by pressing the power button for 40 minutes. Now it’s stuck on the welcome screen. Can anyone help me with this?

Renz Alfonso did you let it charge up first? Do you have it connected to power? Do you see this "slide and release the power to switch to wake" on the home page?
