Why are my motion controls working?

Today, my motion controls stopped working after working just fine yesterday while playing a Zelda game that requires motion controls for certain actions. I did the method where you gently but firmly tap the gamepad on a table or flat surface, and then hold Y + B for 3 seconds and recalibrate the sensors. Is there a solution to my problem, or am I stuck with broken motion controls?
