Aspire E15 E5-511 Not charging, no power light, critical low battery

Computer was working fine several days ago.

Dog made chew-toy out of power connector to the computer at the head where it plugs in to the computer.

Bought new Targus charger.

No charging light, no power light, after leaving it plugged in overnite still when attempt to turn it on the screen shows a critical low battery warning and then the computer shuts down.

Opened the case, bent the inside side contacts towards the center to insure contact to the negative portion of the charger plug, no improvement.

Verified the charger is good, multimeter measured voltage at 19.x volts.

Highly suspect when dog was wrestling the charging cord plug out of the computer port internal damage may have been committed, but this is strictly a guess at this point.

Would highly appreciate instructions (large print with pictures version if you know what i mean, i confuse easily) on how best to proceed with testing to determine specific item damaged.

Many thanks!!!

Uhg. Hang on. It would seem that very likely this "universal charger" that Target sold me does not make proper contact to the positive terminal. Working to verify, will advise...

need to inspect if the power socket on your laptop is damaged too, sometimes, when it got tugged, soldering inside might get loose.

Traced connectivity to the MB plug, all good. Then traced for power - nope. The "universal" power supply was at least one planet short of being universal. Though the outer negative contacts made contact, the inside positive contact did not. Sure did a lot of tearing apart just to find the problem in the head. And btw, short cables to those strip connectors between the keyboard/top assembly to the MB??? Whoever kept them that tight when this thing went into production needs to pay me for a lot of aggrevation...

OK, i NEED to add...

Though i got the power situation all sorted out, in disconnecting and reconnecting those dam@fool ribbon cables running between the upper assembly and the MB, i managed to screw up the ability of the keyboard and touchpad to work. Fortunately the USB inputs allowed me to connect a USB mouse and a USB keyboard for basic functionality. I will likely post a separate query in the event anyone knows which of the three is the most likely culprit!
