change the iPod Classic from hold ON to hold OFF

Hello, it's My first time with an iPod classic and i want to know if this is normal. when i turn on the hold switch, after a couple of seconds the light turns off, this far everythings ok, we can still see the name of the song, the artwork etc. Til appears the clock screen right?

When you turn off the hold switch in the iPod clock screen the backlight turns on automatically right?

But it doesnt turn on automatically when remains on the Music screen (with the backlight off, obviously), i have to touch the clickwheel to actívate backlight again. Is this a normal thing or it's something Bad with the screen??

I Hope You guys can help me

Also, please change the question as you aren't stupid. Probably something like "Does changing the iPod Classic from hold ON to hold OFF cause the backlight to come on?" This way anyone else who searches the web and comes here can gain the info as well.

Just checked on my iPod classic and same result. The screen not bad. The lock button “locks out” or disables the scroll wheel. Depending on your backlight settings, since the iPod gets no false clicks from the scroll wheel, the screen stays off.

Even if you slide the lock button into the unlock position, the screen will not turn on because there has been no input from the scroll wheel. The only way to bypass this behaviour is to turn the backlight on permanantly but that would just drain your battery.
