Why won’t the game from my old DSi not working on my DSiXL

my almost 10 year old dsi has broke and my cousin gave me his dsi XL to use to play games and it seems to be reading the game but when i open the game it says “an error has occurred. press and hold the power button to turn the system off. please see the nintendo dsi operations manual for help troubleshooting.” and i looked in the manual and nothing helped. what can i do to fix it?
