Hi,
I have seen many people selling flex cable which is on the back of lcd of an ipad pro 2018 and 2020 models. Do they require any special programming or you can just attach them back to the new lcd ?

Just be aware that by replacing components tied to FaceID will result in the loss of FaceID. The components are programmed to each board with the use of a special tool only apple has. But you should be able to replace it nonetheless. You’ll get a message when the device turns on stating “apple is unable to activate FaceID”.

I understand that however I could not find any guide about ipad pro 11 or ipad pro 2018/2020 getting their face id flex cable ( the one attached to lcd) being replaced. only 1 video I could find on chinese video https://haokan.baidu.com/v?vid=123967644...
I wonder how that works because I didn't see any programmer being used here to reprogram new flex cable.
@imab I have absolutely no idea what they're talking about in that video. If they replaced the flex cable and maintained FaceID, then they must've transferred the components to the new cable.
@hootonberg ok I ordered that proximity sensor cable from aliexpress seller but when I attached to my ipad it started a bootloop. I had to remove it to make ipad restart. I do not know why it is not working.
@imab I would try another proximity sensor then. Sometimes people sell junk parts, especially on AliExpress and eBay. I know in the case of the iPhones if that assembly is shorted out it can cause a bootloop as you mentioned.
