Surface charging port not working after rain

I left my backpack slightly open and my surface laptop 3 was rained on for a few minutes. It still works fine, except now it doesn’t charge in the surface charging port (the side that was exposed to the rain). I can still charge it over USB-C, but it’s not convenient. What might have happened and can it be fixed easily?
