ice make giving only crushed ice and not cubes

I have a whirlpool refrigerator model ED5KVEXVL00, and I noticed that the ice was not dispensing. I took the cube drawer out and saw a broken blade from the ice dispenser drum is broken. The ice resumes dispensing when removing the broken part; however, it will not dispense cubes but rather rich ice even when the cube switch is pushed. Do I need to replace the dispenser drum to remedy this? Or is there something else that could be going on?
