RAM Type and Configuration?

Hello!

My Question has 3 parts.

a) MUST the iMac Mid-2007 20" EMC 2133 use PC2-5300 or will it run the PC2-6400?

b) I believe it will run up to 6GB of RAM, although not officially supported by Apple?

c) Must both slots carry equal amounts of RAM, eg. 2x2GB, 2x3GB, or can I configure unevenly, eg. 1x4GB + 1x2GB, 1x2GB + 1x1GB, etc.

Thanks!

Taylor

Standard RAM: 1 GB

Maximum RAM: 6 GB*

Details: 1 GB of RAM is installed as a single module.

*Apple officially supports 4 GB of RAM, but third-parties have been able to upgrade the system to 6 GB of RAM using one 2 GB and one 4 GB memory module.

  • Supported RAM Types

PC2-5300

Unbuffered

Nonparity

200-pin

667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

The "Early 2008" Aluminum models -- the iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 20-Inch (08), 2.66 20-Inch (08), 2.8 24-Inch (08), and 3.06 24-Inch (08) -- use 800 MHz PC2-6400 DDR2 SO-DIMMs, or specifically:

@ Mayer: Thanks for your infos,

but imho this is correct, but not the answer to the first question.

The 1st question is: will the iMac7,1 –NOT the iMac8,1– also accept 800MHz DIMMs. like some other 667MHz Mac models do ?

The answers to questions 2, and 3 are correct.

@klausfinke The EMC2133 only has two models, both 7,1. Your information is incorrect
