Speed/Lock Levers not working

Hello!

I recently got a hand-me-down KitchenAid mixer, however there are a few issues with it. 1) It seems to be stuck at high-speed, even at the initial position, it is rapidly spinning, and there is no discernible difference when switching speeds and 2) the lever is stuck on the lock position, without it being locked.

I wasn't sure if these are able to be fixed easily or if I should take to a small appliance repair shop. Any insight appreciated!

and dont forget to add lube to it but over do it

these little babies are pretty simple to work on Taylor and most of the parts are nylon like gears ect. and quite avalible so pop the top and check out your selector switch move it back and forth look for bad gears or worn parts these people will not tell you much they want you to send to one of ther service men so take ur time its a simple machine just use common sense if you find a bad part google ther web site and find and order that part dont forget to take pictures ok
