Pokemon Red Cartridge still loses save after replace it 3+ times.

My RED cart battery died a long time ago. Save being gone is expected. I’ve replaced the battery and played for probably 15 in game hours. Luckily I backed up the save on my pc using an adapter. I turned on the game one day and the save in the cart died. I replaced the battery and it too died the next day. I changed the battery again and kept the device off for 1 week, still saves. Kept the thing off for 3-4 weeks and the thing is dead again. Voltage of the 2025 (i think is 3) 0.7. How is the cartridge dying while the gameboy is off? I put another battery from the same pack I got it from into a BLUE version and it works fine 10+ weeks after installation. What am i missing?

Do you have a multimeter?

@ice21 Desolder the battery, pull out a new battery from the pack, connect negative on the battery to battery negative on the cartridge. Put the red multimeter probe in the 10A setting and switch the multimeter to 10A DC Current meausrement mode. Connect the positive of the battery to one multimeter probe. Connect the other probe to the battery positive on the cartridge. How many amps is the cartridge pulling from the battery?
