Viewfinder not working, LCD is okay. How to repair?

My Sony DSC-H50's viewfinder does not illuminate when I switch from LCD to viewfinder mode. All other functions work, including the external LCD display. Does anyone know of a repair guide or video? My searches have turned up nothing.

EDIT: After posting this yesterday I did see the viewfinder flash (illuminate) briefly several times, but not in any reproducible way and not when I tried to switch to viewfinder mode. Seems most likely it is a loose connector.

EDIT2: I have attached the Sony repair manual (to the camera info page), but it doesn't really list steps, so I'm hesitant to dive in.

Have you tried disconnecting any unnecessary modules and testing ? I have encountered a similar issue on some canon cameras when the flash module was shorted

Thanks, HIF. This camera has no accessories/modules attached.

You're right, I did misunderstand you. The flash module works fine. I haven't disconnected it because I haven't yet figured the right way to disassemble the camera.

I got the camera apart (Thank you, @how_its_fixed!) and found that the ribbon cable between the main board and the viewfinder has several broken traces as shown below. For perversity's sake, pics were taken with the camera itself.

It appears that flex was laying against something that got hot. That looks like it is burned. Replacing the cable should work, just make sure it is not touching what caused that.

I have the same problem today with the EVR of my Sony alpha 58 DSLR. Thankfully, I was able to see your post. This gives me a lead to how I can fix my camera. But then, how do you call this ribbon?

@josemarievillas This type cable is called a "flex cable", and, in this case, I assume it would be called the "viewfinder flex cable," or something similar.
