Power sunroof is grinding

e46 04 BMW, when I attempt to open the sunroof, there is a grinding sound. Often the sunroof will not close. Please help.

I would check to make sure nothing is blocking or inside of the sliding track that the sunroof slides back and forth on.

If that doesn't fix the issue the engines that move the sunroof may need to be replaced.
