Trackpad and point not working after battery change?

Hello
I am thinking about replacing the battery on my 1st gen X1.
However I've read a comment that the trackpoint and pad don't work anymore after the replacement. can anybody confirm that?

This question was a while ago, but looking at the guide for the battery replacement, as long as you are careful not to break any wires you should be ok.
