Yamaha DGX300 make loud hum when turned on and does not work.

Most of the time when I turn it on, I get a quick blast of static and then a continuous loud hum. Occasionally if I keep trying I don' get that and it works OK except for very low volume. I originally thought 60 cycle hum from some interference but tried on other circuits away from other devices with no change, except still once in a while turned on with no problem. I like the size and key style of this keyboard and don't want to scrap it. Advice and access to service manual much appreciated.

Hi

Here’s a link to the owners manual

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/196714...

Unfortunately I can’t find a service manual from somewhere that is trusted but if you look up Yamaha DGX-300 service manual you may be able to find one ,I can’t recommend the ones I found though

Here’s a disassembly video guide

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3ghMujk225...

You can follow the steps in the guide by in your case I would pay attention to where the speakers plug in and look out for any bulging or leaking capacitors (capacitors look like tall cylinders on the board)

If you are unsure of anything please don’t hesitate to let me know:-)

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)

Thanks. I wish the video showed more of the electronics, but it's a good start.

@Charles Hadlock

That would be nice if it shows a bit more

From my experience keyboards tend to be pretty easy to look at as there’s isn’t too much to them

As long as you take photos of where the wiring goes and what boards and keys go where you should be all good for the disassembly side of things

Thanks:-)
