Sim not working after usb repair

I can't get my hand on what controls the SIM card. But i can't get any network since i changed my usb c port. Also note that I had to change the port because it shorted. Maybe because a non google usb cable was used. But before stating that the sim port is bad I'd like to test it, tried *#0#* but its not working with pixel 4a 5g. Any clue?
