Why is my console not recognising my PS5-compatible M.2. SSD?

I have a Corsair MP600 Pro LPX which I have tried installing in my PS5. I followed Corsair's own guide to install the drive (more or less identical to iFixit's guide), but when I boot up my console, the PS5 doesnt recognise that there is an SSD connected.

One issue I noticed is that there never was any "springy-ness" when the drive is connected - it just lies flat in the SSD bay.

Do I have a broken SSD-slot, a defective M.2. SSD, or have I missed something?

I have this issue as well. I have read through many forums and most people are willing to try to help. Some are very condescending. I have tried 4 different SSDs and none have worked. They all were marked as PS5 compatible. I did the whole insert at an angle thing and my PS5 would never detect the SSD. My job in the military was centered around computers and computer maintenance. I know how to install memory and what not so I am pretty confident it isn't my error. I have found that several people have this issue and yet Sony isn't doing anything about the problem. I wonder if I will have to send my PS5 in order for Sony to take a look.

When you say there is “no springy-ness,” you mean like step 14 in the guide?

Most m.2 slots require you to insert the drive at an angle and will behave like this, similar to soDIMM (laptop size) RAM sticks. They sit in the slot and you press them down to click into place. Or in this case to screw it down. Perhaps it’s not fully seated into the slot?

Can you take some photos of your installation of the SSD? That might help to narrow down the issue. You can edit them into your original question.

I have the same problem no detection when I insert the mp600 pro lpx in my ps5 it lays flat. I don’t have to push it down. Also the screw to secure the ssd at the end, almost misses the ssd entirely. What is defective the SSD slot or the ssd itself.

I have the same problem with my ps5. Is anyone here already solve there problem? Thanks

@suwa1l I haven't actually seen anyone follow up on this. Are you also using the same SSD?

Having the same issue , no help yet

@suwa1l have you heard a solution yet?

Hey there! Sorry to hear you're having trouble getting your PS5 to recognize your M.2 SSD. That can be frustrating. One thing to check is whether your SSD is actually compatible with the PS5. It's possible that even though it's labeled as "PS5-compatible," there could still be some compatibility issues. If you're unsure, you can check out https://multitechverse.com/ for some great resources on the topic.

There is nothing in multiverse about this issue

Same hard drive same issue. Other than my sdd does go in on an angle and have spring to it press it in and install screw. Ps5 does not recognize the drive

I had an issue with the same drive on my PS5. I reseated and backed the drive a bit out of the slot, not so far the screw wouldn't go on or anything and it took off. No issues since.

Did it work?

So formatting a m.2 to fat32 is suppose to fix it when the ps5 does not detect it?

Good News, it worked. Format the m.2 NVMe to fat 32 detected by PS5. I selected fat 32 at 64 per cluster on Samsun 990 Pro 1TB, if that makes a difference 🤷‍♀️
