Why does my iPhone 6s not turn on after battery replacement?

So I bought an iphone 6s battery replacement kit, it worked great as soon as I put the battery in and turned it on it worked. On the box it said to use my iphone until the battery goes to zero, then after that leave it charged until 100% and charge for 2 more hours once it reached to 100%. I did have to unplug it at some point during its charge because I had to go to school. When I tried recharging it I saw that the battery was losing charge instead of gaining and then once it reached 1% it shut off, Ive had it plugged in for so many hours in fact more than a day. I've tried force starting it by holding down the power and home button at the same time, holding the power button for 3 seconds and then hold the home button, reopening the iPhone, and check if all the cables are plugged in including the display cables. All of that just to get a black screen, not even the battery is low screen just a blank screen. Should I return the battery kit or try another method I don't know what to do at this point. I know the display is working because it did turn on while I was charging it at school.

@bobthebuilder23, The first thing I would do, is (making sure the phone is all back together properly) get a hold of a USB amp meter (they can be found on Amazon for a few bucks) and connect that to a charger and then the phone to the meter. It will show how much current is being drawn, if any.

If no current is drawn, there is a problem which will need to be diagnosed further. Normal charging draw is right around 0.95-1A, when everything is working as it should. During a boot process, the draw will hop all over the place, but should settle around those numbers, when successfully booted.

When you replaced the battery, did you unplug the battery first (right after opening the phone) or did you unplug something else first? The battery should always be disconnected first, or the backlight is highly prone to failing (especially on the 6 and 6S series).

The first thing I did was unplug the battery, that is what I was told before doing anything else. I used the Ifixit directions.

Also, any recommendations for a USB amp meter? One that is not too costly but works like a charm. I don't want to get a false reading which is probably unlikely but I just want to be safe. This is the first time I've ever done a repair on a device so I made sure I was as careful as I could be.

@bobthebuilder23 Well, my USB meter is made by Uni-T and it supports USB-A and USB-C. Get one that does both!

As for safe, just do a little research into the seller. Check whom it’s sold by, and the feedback of both the seller and the product. Good reviews on the seller and the product, you’re as safe as can be :)

@geirandersen Oh alright thank you for the info!

@geirandersen I have the same one, bought from a company called Farnell. Brilliant piece of kit.
