Question about my LED TV that I was able to fix using youtube tutorial

I was able to fix my LED TV which decided to stop working one fine morning out of nowhere. Missus and Children were very cranky while I was at work. So I came and looked at the conditions. The backlight was working. Decided to play about with remote. Some app opened and the sound started coming for some program but there was no picture. So, the Sound was working and the backlight was also working. I looked around on youtube how to fix it because I had work next day also and I was not able to decide in my mind on where to call a repairman from. TV was out of warranty and maybe so was my bank account.

I had heard before that TV can be fixed using masking tape so I looked around on youtube and there were several videos on this topic. So my broke mind went in that direction to fix using those as they were the cheapest option before I could decide on big repair bill. following the common instruction from those videos one by one I disconnected the ribbon stirps going from the Tcon board into the panel connected circuit boards and voila I had a half working screen. Genius ;-) Next I prepared one masking tape to cover the strips and there were several videos on that with differing answers. The one where it said cover thirteen pins with tape for LG 43 inch TV worked for my brand of 55 inch TV. Now picture was appearing on the full screen so I screwed up the nuts and bolts in their place and hung it on the wall and went to sleep. The next day I noticed that the colors on the half portion which was not working during testing had faded colors.

As a greedy human being who now has a working TV with picture can anyone please tell whether this is fixable. What might be the problem now

Dear friends, kindly help me in this.

Hi!

Fixing a TV in this way is not full fix, the root cause here is that your LCD panel has an internal short which was causing the T-CON board to stop functioning altogether. You identified which side of the panel had that short and put tape on it to isolate the shorted lines which is why you got picture back, however the LCD is now missing critical data/power lines which in turn causes the display to either have artifacts, lack colour etc. Not much you can do about that unfortunately. Your best bet is to narrow the slice of tape you put in the connector to only cover the shorted data line which is tedious but might help get back a better picture.

The fact that this solution worked probably means that something is bad with the chips embedded into the screen, which wouldn't be an economical repair. However, I would first start by replacing the T-Con board if your TV has one.
