Why does my PSP not charge or turn on?

So I just bought a PSP from a retro game store and it does not show ANY sign of life, it wont show a charging indicator or turn on.. do you guys think this is hopefully just the battery, or will i need to tear my PSP apart?

Hello,

I do not know for certain the issue you are facing, because I cannot physically look at the device, but with prior knowledge with tech, I can do my best. Here are some suggestions:

If you can, remove the battery, then reinstall it to do a force shutdown.
If that doesn’t work, try installing a new battery.
If that doesn’t work, there is probably a issue on the inside, therefore requiring you to tear it apart.

I got the battery and the system is on, but now since the lights work i can now see that the system is not charging, do i need a sony cord?
