Why is there a bright blue stain on my screen display?

Hello, my macbook pro 2019 started to have weird screen color display. I also noticed that there is a bright blue stain on the left part of the screen. When I take a screenshot, or export my designs from Adobe, the colors are fine though. I brought my laptop to Apple service center. They said that my display is defective and needs to be replaced. They are not sure though what caused it.

Is there anything that can be done apart from spending 650 euros to replace the display? Has anyone ever encountered same issue?

Looks a lot like a pressure spot to me. Have you dropped/dented or shoved the Mac in a tight bag possibly? Only solution it a display replacement.

Look at your desktop settings. I forget where it is and I can’t find it under Catalina, I know there was a Translucent desktop setting which does this blurry effect on covered windows.

I hate the effect! With iOS it often distracts me! I have yet to find the setting in it but I have used it back in High Sierra days and it appears to be holding in Catalina.

Give this a try set your desktop image to a monochromatic color see if that changes things.
