Battery does not charge after installation.

Battery Health 2 reports the battery age is 8.1 years. Manufactured in April 1 2015.😒Peak capacity is also 7146 instead of the 7334. After installation macbook says "battery not charging" and after disconnecting the battery flexi cable from the pcb for about 10 mins and repluging, battery charges but right after I unplug the charger and plug it in again it says "battery not charging again

Now, there's a guarantee that the battery has expired!!! (8 years on the shelf) how can ifixit sell an expired battery to a customer

@evansyoung - I promise you the battery is not that old!

The micro controller within the battery date is either messed up or just not being read correctly.

Let’s get a better view of things. Install this gem of an App CoconetBattery if offers a bit better info on your battery and it’s charging that the app you are using.take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here so we can see it.

@evansyoung - The batteries date appears to be messed up as clearly this battery is not that old! IFixit battery maker couldn’t know what Apple was planning to design before they had.

Let’s see if we can get SMC to clear its date info so the batteries firmware data can be read. Follow this guide Reset the SMC of your Mac follow the If you have a Mac with the T2 chip steps. Let’s see if that fixes things.

I reseted the SMC severally before posting up here. ifixit has sent me a replacement and I'm hoping to receive ut soon to try. I'll inform how it goes.
