Lenovo Yoga 920 -battery replacement problem

I purchased and installed a replacement battery per ifixit.com instructions. After installing, laptop would not recognize the new battery ( “battery not installed). Detaching and reattaching the battery’s cable had no effect. When original battery reinstalled laptop works fine again.

A second replacement battery was sent by ifixit and was again installed, with same result as first replacement battery (“battery not installed”). Old battery when again reinstalled worked just fine.

I’ve included pics of the two replacement batteries.

Any ideas as to the problem? Suggestions for possible fixes?

Is branded battery different from replacement brands? What might cause this problem to occur? Thanks!
